He Never Lets Go

He Never Lets Go Blog

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT) So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

I’ve recently been listening to “You Won’t Let Go” by Cory Asbury, which is a simple song with a powerful message. The lyrics state “You Won’t Let Go” at least 30 times throughout the 3.5 minute song.

blog quote_3As humans, we are guilty of attributing God’s faithfulness to our circumstances or emotions. When things are going well, we know God is with us. When we feel good about ourselves, we know God is for us. However, God’s character isn’t dictated by our emotions or circumstances. The Bible promises God’s faithfulness ALL THE TIME, even when life is hard, painful or simply stinks.

Psalm 36:5 (NIV) Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.

The reason King David wrote in Psalms “to the skies” is because the heavens and skies are infinite. It is 2018 and scientists still have not even mapped the ends of the solar systems. If humans cannot fathom the ends of the skies, then we also cannot fathom the ends of His faithfulness.blog quote_4

Jesus demonstrated that same faithful love on earth with His disciples.

John 13:1 (AMP) Now before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that His hour had come and it was time for Him to leave this world and return to the Father. Having greatly loved His own who were in the world, He loved them and continuously loves them with His perfect love to the end eternally.

And when Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised He would have that same love toward us and be with us all the time.

Matthew 28:20b (NIV) And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

In fact, our circumstances or emotions will never take away God’s love for us.

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,  neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So the next time I am feeling down, abandoned, or bereft, I will sing to my soul “You Won’t Let Go” over and over until my emotions catch up to the truth of His Word.
