- Series: Foursquare Worldwide Update
Myanmar: Foursquare Myanmar continues to reach out to those affected by Cyclone Nargis regardless of their religious background-three-fourths of those being touched are Buddhist. Ministry to children has increased tremendously since the cyclone. The majority of the children that are receiving ministry were orphaned as a result of Cyclone Nargis.
WorldBase Sao Paulo: July 11-13 the staff at WorldBase Sao Paulo held sports training as a means of what some term "athletic evangelism." Over the course of the four days theoretic and practical sports classes were led by teachers from the Brazilian Coalition of Sports Ministries. In the evenings 25 homeless children in the neighborhood were also taught various sports. The outreach was a great blessing.
Mexico: New Heart Foursquare in Altadena, Calif., recently returned from a mission trip to Mexico. The team partnered with a ministry called Rancho De Sus Niños which reaches out specifically to homeless children. They participated in the construction of a hospice center and in evangelism in the neighborhood. The group discovered the joy of working together as they assisted those less fortunate than them. As one team member said: "We were able to get a little glimpse of heaven here on earth."
Bangladesh: Sylmar Foursquare Church recently adopted a project to provide pastors in Bangladesh with bicycles. Without these bicycles the pastors have to walk several miles and wait for extended periods of time to board crammed buses to complete a day of ministry. The sturdy bikes purchased are a great blessing and allow these pastors to safely travel along bumpy village trails to disciple church planters and leaders.
